Doppleganger Burger opened today in Cambridge. It’s a vegan burger joint. Alfy has been in residence at 2648 in Cambridge cooking vegan burgers for the past year, and has developed a cult following. He turned this whole site around in just a couple of months. And, i’ve got to give it to him - the food is pretty fantastic - vegan or not.
Who else finds that question really hard to answer in the heat of the moment, and then afterwards berates themselves with all the things they should have said? For me, the response has always been some kind of garbled explanation of who I’m married to, and that I have 3 kids, and that I do other ‘bits and pieces’. In the real world self-promotion is embarrassing, and underselling oneself is some kind of defence mechanism. Here’s what I really ‘do’.
On New Years Day we set off to PAUS hoping to experience something a little different from the usual fry-up. What we found, in fact, was our new favourite place. Nestled on a hillside in Bourn with views across the countryside, PAUS is a spa, a relaxation centre, an event space, and a hilltop terrasse serving incredible food.
